Lesson I : Simple Present Tense 

Simple Present Tense adalah bentuk waktu yang menunjukkan suatu kenyataan atau kegiatan yang bersifat rutin. Seperti yang telah kalian ketahui terdapat 3 jenis Tenses(bentuk waktu) yaitu The Simple Tense,The Continous Tense, dan The Perfect Tense yang kemudian dibagi lagi.
Pada Simple Tense dibagi 3, Simple Present Tense,Simple Past Tense, dan Simple Continous Tense. Continous Tense dipecah jadi 3 bagian pula yaitu: Present Continous Tense, Past Continous Tense, dan Present Perfect Continous. Terakhir,Perfect Tense terbagi jadi 2 yaitu Present Perfect dan Past Perfect.

            

    Dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris, ada baiknya kita mengetahui dan memahami Tenses. Sebab, akan lebih mudah bagi kita memahami struktur bahasa Inggris lainnya.

           

     Ok, sudah cukup intronya sekarang ke pokok bahasan.

Simple Present Tense memiliki beberapa fungsi yaitu : 

   1) Digunakan untuk menyatakan perbuatan/ kejadian yang merupakan kenyataan.

- The earth is round (bumi itu bulat)

- The sun rises in the east (matahari itu terbit dari timur)

2)Digunakan untuk menyatakan perbuatan yang merupakan kebiasaan atau bersifat rutin

-          They seldom brush teeth (mereka jarang gosok gigi)

-          She eat breakfast at 7 o’clock (dia(pr) makan sarapan pukul 7 tepat)

* Bentuk simple present tense 

Memiliki 2 bentuk yaitu:

a) Bentuk I :

Rumus :

(+) subyek + KK1 (s/es)+....

(-)subyek + do/does + not + KK1+...

(?) do/does +subyek + KK1+... ?

-          Yes, subyek + do/does.

-          No, subyek +don’t/doesn’t

     Catatan :

•   do digunakan pada  I, You, They, dan We
•   does digunakan pada he,she, it
•  s/es pada (+) digunakan pada he,she, it atau yang menggunakan does

•       khusus pada subyek I dan You, di bagian introgative(?)  jawaban dari pertanyaan itu subyeknya diganti dengan yang berlawanan, I berpasangan dengan you. You berpasangan dengan I. Misal : Do you always go to school by bike? 

                                       –     Yes, I do 
               -   No, I don’t

• pada subyek I, You, They, dan We di (+) karena menggunakan do jadi KK1 tidak memakai s/es tetapi langsung. Misal : I eat rice every day (saya makan nasi setiap hari)
•   do not = don’t dan does not = doesn’t

Contoh kalimat :

(?)Do you drink tea everyday?

-          Yes, I do

-          No, I don’t

  2) (+) I go to school by bike

(-) I don’t go to school by bike

(?) Do I go to school by bike?

-          Yes, you do

-          No, you don’t

33) (+) He goes to library everyday

(-) He doesn’t go to library everyday

(?)Does he go to library everyday ?

-          Yes,he does

-          No, he doesn’t

44) (+) My T-shirt washes everytime

(-)My T-shirt doesn’t  wash everytime

(?) Does my T-shirt  wash everytime?

-yes,it does

- no, it doesn’t

Rumus :

(+) subyek + to be(am/is/are)+...

(-) subyek + to be(am/is/are) + not+...

(?) to be (am/is/are) + subyek+ ...?

-          Yes, subyek + to be

-          No, subyek + to be + not

Catatan :

• Am digunakan pada I; are pada you, they, dan we ; is pada he, she, it

Contoh kalimat :

11) (+) My cupboard is use to save my clothes

(-) My cupboard isn’t use to save my clothes

(?)Is my cupboard use to save my clothes?

-          Yes, it is

-          No, it isn’t

22) (+) Yeti and Laila are play in the garden

(-)They aren’t play in the garden

(?)Are they play in the garden?

-          Yes , they are

-          No, they aren’t
